Shale Play Water Management’s July/August publication featured case study “Friction Reducers in Variable Dissolved Solids” discusses one of GeoKimika’s success stories. On-site monitoring and real-time analysis of frac water composition, resulted in an optimize fluid design that reduced chemical expenses and improved bacteria control.
“The use of produced water blends in hydraulic fracturing operations has increased rapidly as operators look to minimize their freshwater use. The variability of these produced waters presents challenges in water treatment and optimization of the fluid systems.
This article presents a case study exploring implementation of on-site field testing, on-the-fly treatment changes, and the impact to operational efficiency. Real time data were used to make changes during the fracturing
process to optimize chemical treatment
programs and water ratios.”
